Who knew?!

Sunday Eric and I cleaned out our closet. We don’t use our closet because of my fear of the bats that are in the attic space and until we closed that up they used to get in our room. So the closet kind of gives me anxiety issues. But it was time to conquer that fear and I went in.  Low and behold, tossed in the closet earlier this year was a project I had started when we were remodeling the bathroom and I totally forgot about it. I purchased an unfinished wooden stool for the girls to use.  Yesterday while the kids were playing outside I decided to take my acrylic paints out to the patio table and get that done. I got SO into this. I really really enjoyed it! And I think it’s pretty cool and artistic if I do say so myself. Look at what I did:

The fish were foam stamps  from Michaels but they did nothing more than an outline of the fish. I used a pencil to draw the rest in. The rest is all me! Cuteness, right?!

a multitude of things

I’ve been cleaning out the house like crazy! It feels so good but unfortunately that has left little time for the blog.  But you know, when I have something about my business to say, I pop in! LOL So take a look at this:

I just have to brag about the girls I am blessed to “work with” over at TDS. My gosh, they are loaded with talent. I’ve seen all the grab bags and nothing is a disappointment.  I’ve had a bit of a sour taste about grab bags so I am going to say this incase you have too. I recently bought some bags that were all the raves and I was so disappointed when I opened them. Gosh a gazillion flower products too and uhhh I love flowers!  Let me assure you that while yeah, we got cool flowers, these grab bags are filled with a huge array of items! I’m really blown away. If I didn’t mean that I’d just post a link to my store and off I’d go. But I really stand behind every designer. WOW

Next I want to share some stuff going around the home front.  Summer Simmons totally inspired me to try “freezer cooking” or “once a month cooking”. Visit her blog for great tips and recipes… including pictures! I started out slow. On Saturday I did a mini session. I completed 13 meals plus some goodies in 4 1/2 hours! And all week I’ve been sitting pretty with dinner completed and ready to go.  The night before I pull dinner out of the freezer and put it in the fridge to thaw. Then all I have to do is bake and serve. I wish I’d started this sooner. It’s fantastic!

Monday is the last day of school for our kids. My baby boy is going on to 6th grade. WOW, just wow!  They had a nice little evening to recognize the kids. They all got up and announced their future goals. It was really funny. Some kids had goals of just getting through 6th grade and others had their lives planned. It really showed their personalities I thought. Isaac announced that his goal is to be a CSI agent (and no, we don’t let him see the tv shows) because he likes solving crimes.

The very funniest was when this short little boy got up and proudly announced his goal is to become and OBGYN.  That definitely stirred the crowd.   I later said to Eric, I don’t think Isaac even knows what that is? Eric figured maybe someone in this child’s family is one. LOL

Aleah completed a session of swim lessons at the Y. Her teacher put on her report that she is a good swimmer but lacks confidence. That is exactly right. Fear is the only thing keeping her from taking off.  She’s more comfortable with Eric. We’ve been taking the kids to open swim at the high school. So we are not going to enroll her again and Eric will work with her this summer. I’m sure she’ll learn quickly with daddy whom she trusts.
