a little Christmas confusion

Kate just informed me that this year she’d like to be a pumpkin for Christmas! HA HA

I can’t tell you how much this girl cracks me up. Every single day. She can turn the very ordinary into a moment of delight. For example, a while back we were headed to the store and as we drove down the street a squirrel ran across the road. Kate was so tickled by that and she started laughing and laughing is contagious so I started laughing. As we drove off I could not stop smiling and realizing that in my life pre-kate a squirrel crossing the road would have been something ordinary or even unnoticed.

Oh, I’m so excited! Tomorrow is Aleah’s Christmas program at school. They don’t do this every year. Isaac had only one in elementary so I think somehow they work it out like that. And Eric and I were so sick and missed his performance. We sent grandparents with a video camera. Well tomorrow *we* will videotape Aleah. She even has a speaking role! Now this is HUGE. Aleah is very shy and normally does not want people looking at her. Last Christmas she wouldn’t even Christmas Carol at the old folks home. She cried and said she didn’t want them to see her. Soooo…. I am full of mommy nervousness for my sweetie. Everyone pray that she will be brave and it goes well. I am so proud of her for even trying this. It could be great for her confidence.

I should say something about Isaac but … well.. .all I have is that he’s grounded AGAIN. Not doing well in school. This is NOT like him. It’s not that he doesn’t know the schoolwork, he’s just disorganized and I guess doesn’t even care. Preteen boy totally. Boo hoo   I guess we should really be praying for him!  And my sanity. More gray hairs for sure. And ya’ll think I’m joking but really, I have some beautiful gray hairs. I’ll show ‘em to anyone too! hee hee

I didn’t mention… 8 days til Christmas!  (freak out, no I am not ready!)  Something a little different today. Aren’t these trees sweet?!

10 days…

Well.. I forgot to post! Yesterday we had a really fun Girl Scout troop party at our house. We made reindeer ornaments, Santa surprised us, we had a gift exchange, mixed up a bag of reindeer food, and made no bake cookies! Fun, fun!

After everyone left I watched Kitchen Nightmares because I missed it this week. Love Chef Ramsey!  And then I had school work to do. My last day of Color Theory Class. It was an interesting class. I’ve got winter break now. I haven’t even looked at what courses are coming up next semester.

12 days to Christmas!

Are you ready? Are you, are you, are you?!!!

I’m not. LOL So much I wish I could do. I even wish I could show you our tree this year and some decorations but my camera lens broke and won’t let me take any pictures. I’ve been using Isaac’s camera but it’s too dark in the house to get a decent photo. As soon as we get a sunny day I’m going to give it another go. Maybe by then we’ll have the train around the tree. Kate asks me EVERY day but I just don’t know how to set it up. I am getting more anxious for her though and I’ll probably give it a go soon. The kids and I put the artificial tree up ourselves this year. A first for me. yay us! We were really proud of our team work.

But I’m really into trees this year. LOVE all the vintage trees. I’m starting a little collection of mini tinsel trees. You can get them cheap at Target. And Dollar Tree had some little table top ones too. Neat thin ones… i love a thin tree.  Seriously, pictures soon but for now I thought I’d share a photo a day that has caught my eye on flickr.  I don’t have a pink tree yet but I’ll be looking at after holiday clearance for one for sure. You know I love pink!
